Safe Sleeping Babies

The Indigenous Safe Sleeping Project offers a great example of the type of work we do at ResearchCrowd. The Project was conducted for SIDS and Kids Queensland and Queensland Health. Both are part of a comprehensive system of health services across Australia, dedicated to saving the lives of babies and children during pregnancy, birth, infancy and early childhood and to supporting bereaved families in times of need.  The research and evaluation presented in the Indigenous Safe Sleeping Project was the product of a six month consultancy, which included time for progress, draft and final reports, and a presentation to senior stakeholders. During the consultancy, we were able to: produce a state profile of existing statistics on Indigenous people of Queensland; identify statistically relevant urban, rural and remote communities in which data collection activities could be conducted; develop demographic profiles of each of the communities in our investigations; produce a comprehensive literature review of medical, health and community research; establish the current knowledge of current sleeping practices and risk factors for families in those communities; ascertain the appropriateness of the current safe sleeping resources for families in those communities; determine the ease of access of families in urban, rural (regional) and remote …
